Pony Camp
Monday 30th June to Friday 4th July
MONDAY- Arrive 9.00 am. Please gather with your pony/horse to the field at the back of the Laois Tent where each Ride(Group) will be called out and meet your instructor @ 9.30am.
Finish will be at approx 4.30pm each day and earlier on Friday.
Important - The Irish Pony Club guidelines to tack must are be upheld for the week.
Guidelines for dress code: Laois Pony Club sweat shirt, white shirt / polo shirt /Laois T-shirt. Blue or silk (hat) covers. No jewellery allowed. For girls, hair must be tied back neatly.
Please respect the landowner and their premises and do not throw around rubbish and bring this home with you at the end of the day.
RIDERS & PONY CHECK LIST
- Check list of essentials that each rider must have NB: See dress code above
- Bring Lunch for rider! Please ensure your child has adequate drinks for the day.
- Pigtails and Rope/Tape for small corrals/paddocks.
- Sun cream if weather is hot.
- Wet gear & change of clothes
- Grooming Kit
- Tack cleaning equipment, saddle soap, sponge etc.
- Tail bandage
- Headcollar & lead rope
- Fly Spray
- Hay net for ponies/horses lunch
- Water for Ponies/Horses
- Buckets
- Note book and pen
PARENTS CHECKLIST
- Check all tack in advance of Camp week.
- Check ponies feet in case you need the farrier
- Help is needed every day. We will look for volunteers each morning to do the drinks run for the groups.
- One Day Event preparations - Dressage Arenas, SJ Arenas, Painting, Roping, Stripping etc. You will need to put your name down for a job for our ODE on Saturday 5th July.
- Please do not interfere with the group or the instructor in any way. If you have any concerns then please bring these up with a member of the committee.
All members will need a parent/guardian or a nominated experienced person available onsite all week. If a parent is not going to be onsite, then please let a committee member know who is going to be responsible for your child.
Please ensure that you have your children at Camp on time and prepared as there is a timetable for the week and delays can cause upset to the other members of the ride and instructor as well as to your own child.
Remember we have a lot of new members so look out for new families and make them welcome.
Groups will be communicated in advance of Monday morning.
Some members will be doing Exams on on Friday but this will be communicated to those directly.
For any horsboxes left unhitched during the day, please ensure the horsebox is stabilized with handbrake, jockey-wheel and blocks at the rear. It is forbidden to load a pony/horse unless horsebox is stabilized. You can pop-up a small roped paddock to the back of your horsebox/lorry.
If you have booked a stable on-site, these will be assigned on Monday morning. All stables must be paid for on Monday morning also.
BBQ - We will have a Deluxe BBQ on Thursday 3rd, with food being served at 6:00pm. Tickets can be purchased on ItsPlainSailing on Monday or Tuesday.
